On Saturday we watched an awesome concert (recorded pre-COVID and released in full just now) by La Morra, an early-music group connected to the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, of music from their album "Petrus Wilhelmi de Grudencz". I haven't found the full concert on the Web yet, but here is an excerpt from it, including the two songs that have earwormed us.

Both are 3-voice strict canons, and both survive anonymously in an early 15th-century ms from somewhere in eastern Europe (they say it might be Hungarian or Prussian). We don't have the precise source information yet, but [personal profile] shalmestere transcribed them from the recording, and we sat down to play them last night. We're not as good as La Morra, and we're not playing in such an awesome acoustical space, but both pieces still sound pretty amazing.

The rest of the concert, and the rest of the album, are lovely too, but these two pieces stood out for their charm.
