What To Expect When You're Electing
Not that I have any more insight into it than anybody else does; that's just an article title that somebody ought to use but I haven't seen yet.
shalmestere and I voted by mail weeks ago, and confirmed on the City Board of Elections web site that our ballots had been received and judged valid. So we're just keeping our heads down and praying there's little or no violence today. And, of course, that the results are so overwhelming a defeat for Trump that even he can't deny them, that the legions of Trump-appointed Federal judges can't throw out enough Democratic ballots to change them, that the gerrymandered Republican legislatures in Democratic-majority states can't get away with overruling the will of their people and certifying Republican electors anyway, etc.
But realistically, the most likely outcome is that by bedtime tonight Trump will have declared victory and called Biden a lot of horrible names for refusing to concede, while his lawyers file suits in every remotely-close state trying to disqualify ballots received after midnight, ballots counted after midnight, ballots from heavily-Democratic areas, etc. and this will play out over days or weeks. Probably not months, but that's not out of the question.
