A motel close to the highway is not necessarily convenient to get to. Our window overlooks the cloverleaf entrance ramp to the Interstate, but the nearest exit is about six miles of surface streets away.

I had an experience like that in Austin. Complicated by the existence of extensive frontage roads that communicated only rarely with the freeway but that the GPS could not distinguish from it.

Ooh, yes -- been there. There's nothing quite like looking right at the hotel and not being able to figure out how to get there.
