Signal-boosting

According to the Washington Post, hundreds or thousands of Hispanic adults in the border regions of Texas are being "birthered": their U.S. passports revoked and their citizenship in grave doubt because the State Department thinks their U.S. birth certificates are fraudulent. None of the people interviewed in the article has been accused of a crime AFAIK, only of not being U.S. citizens in the first place, but they're sitting in ICE detention while waiting for their cases to be resolved. Which would leave them stateless, since if their evidence of being born in the U.S. is deemed insufficient, they presumably have even less evidence of being born anywhere else.

Yet another case of messing up people's lives to solve a non-existent problem. Unless the problem is "too many brown people here in White America."
