No, we're not building this; it's at our neighborhood train station.

That's right: they're installing heating pipes under the sidewalk. Which I guess saves on shoveling and salt....

Ugh. They did this at my office and we don't like it -- sure the sidewalk stays snow- and ice-free, but the pavement right downhill takes all that runoff and turns it into slippery bumpy ice. And there are frost-heaves already.
